Clif Ford spoke at the University of Central Arkansas in Win Thompson Hall room 208 at 8 a.m. Ford is from the Department of Career Services at UCA. He discussed on what Career Services offered and how you can utilize Career Services.

He provided vital information to UCA students to take notes on for future reference for their portfolio. Ford talked about interviews, resumes, networking, career counseling, internships, and career fairs. Ford indicated when it comes to interviews, every student should interview as much as possible, and the more practice the better the student will be prepared for questions from different companies.

Ford went on discussing resume’s on how important resume’s need to be very specific and clear. He indicated that resume’s do not need to include high school information. Companies are looking for information about you from the past 4 to 5 years.

Ford went on to talk about Career Fair’s, which 4 are provided throughout the year. 2 Career Fairs are open to everybody which is the first Wednesday in November and March with 79 companies present. This gives students an opportunity to gain internship for their career.

Internships are very important to have on your resume especially if they are in your study field. This way companies have more qualification out of the student with this practice. To gain more internship opportunity there is an internship banquet held every spring for students.

Ford went on to indicate students need to join organizations on campus to gain more networking opportunities. 2 Registered Student Organizations provided for students from Career Services is Non-Traditional Student Organization that has 1600 members and Student Support Staff.

You can gain more knowledge with the link below. These organizations concentrates more on networking. Which networking is very important because 90 percent of jobs are earned on personal networking, with 5-10 percent of jobs are found there.

Career Counseling is also provided through Career Services that offers part time work and full time jobs for students and graduates. Career Services helps many students but very few utilize this resource on campus.
